HOW TO JOIN THE NWOSU LAB
Cold email
Please summarize your cold email in 1-2 sentences and attach your CV to it.
Undergraduates
Undergraduates that wish to join the lab for research experience should email the PI with their CV attached and or just write an email to request for a meeting to discuss research interest. This includes summer internship experience. Our lab is acutely committed to providing undergraduates the opportunity to gain experience in biomedical research methods.
Cornell graduate students
Dr. Nwosu is a member of the graduate fields of Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology (BMCB), Genetics, Genomics and Development (GGD), and the Biomedical and Biological Sciences (BBS), and can recruit PhD students from these programs. Graduate students who wish to join us from those programs (e.g., as part of lab rotation) should please contact the PI to schedule a meeting. Unless advised otherwise, please send your CV and personal statement ahead of the meeting.
Prospective graduate/PhD students
Graduate students in the Nwosu Lab can only be admitted through the graduate fields (i.e., BMCB, GGD or BBS – click on the abbreviations for more details). Accordingly, prospective graduate students (i.e., those not yet admitted into Cornell) are strongly advised to focus more on the graduate fields’ application process and eligibility criteria. Although prospective students are free to contact Dr. Nwosu to express interest in the lab, that is not a necessary step. Newly admitted graduate students in the three fields often undertake rotation experience in 3-4 labs before deciding which one to join.
Postdocs
Candidates that are interested in pursuing postdoctoral research in the Nwosu Lab are encouraged to contact the PI if the lab has no current call for applicants. For the first email please only send your CV, which should clearly indicate whether you already have a PhD. If there is an open call, then please follow the instruction on the advert and apply accordingly.
Others
There are fellowships, grants or scholarships that enable students or academic staff from an institution to visit a lab in another institution as part of an exchange program. Those who wish to visit our lab under such program are encouraged to contact the PI to discuss the possibilities of being hosted.
