Cancer cells reprogram their metabolism to sustain growth and resist treatment. Research in the Nwosu Lab focuses on identifying key drivers of cancer metabolism. These drivers may include molecular alterations within the tumor (i.e., intrinsic factors) or factors outside it (e.g., immune cells, fibroblasts, other non-cancerous cells, dietary components). The goal of this lab is to find new ways to selectively disrupt metabolic drivers and thereby starve the tumor. We anticipate that insights from our research will lead to more effective treatments for cancer patients. The lab is mainly focused on pancreatic cancer, but welcome innovative ideas that can advance the understanding of metabolism in health and other cancers or diseases. Prospective lab members should be curious, excited and motivated about our science.
I am committed to running a vibrant and friendly lab where everyone will freely express themselves, collaborate, support each other and do so to the best of their abilities. I believe it is an extraordinary privilege to work at Cornell: those who express interest in working in my lab should appreciate the need to preserve that privilege by adhering to the anti-discrimination policies of this great institution. Accordingly, I will expect all members of the lab to diligently work to sustain a diverse, equitable and inclusive lab culture and to treat fellow colleagues with dignity and respect. If you are considering joining or working with the lab, please feel free to check our research page and contact me for further information.
